The Basics

What the onboarding wizard is

A self-serve path that takes a buyer from a purchase to live leads — without a single onboarding call.

The onboarding wizard is the self-service path each new buyer takes after checkout. Instead of an account manager building a contract by hand, the buyer configures their own targeting, caps, and delivery inside a guided flow, validates the integration with a built-in delivery test, and goes live. When they finish, the contract auto-activates and leads start flowing.

This is what removes the operational tax of running many direct buyers. Onboarding a buyer the old way — a call, spec emails, an IT ticket, a manual contract build — does not scale past a handful of relationships. The wizard turns that work into buyer self-service, which is what makes a thousand-buyer direct network actually operable instead of just an aspiration.

The Flow

How a buyer onboards themselves

Six steps from checkout to live leads. Zero admin involvement at any step.

01

Buyer finishes checkout, gets a magic link

After the buyer purchases a package, Lead Router issues a passwordless magic link straight into the onboarding wizard. No account setup, no password to choose, no IT ticket. The wizard state is snapshotted at link time so the buyer can resume exactly where they left off.

02

Picks targeting

The buyer defines what they want: states and geo, demographic and custom filters, and a delivery schedule with the hours they want leads to arrive. Smart defaults pre-fill these from the purchased package metadata, so the buyer starts from sensible settings instead of a blank form.

03

Sets caps

The buyer sets their own volume caps — daily, weekly, or monthly — so they never receive more leads than they can work. Caps are enforced by the routing engine the moment leads start flowing, with no admin involvement.

04

Connects delivery and maps fields

The buyer connects delivery themselves: a webhook / HTTP POST endpoint, email, a Google Sheet, or a CRM endpoint, and chooses the delivery method. Response and field mapping lets them map Lead Router’s lead fields to the exact payload schema their system expects.

05

Runs a live delivery test

The wizard fires a built-in delivery test against the buyer’s integration. No real lead is required — the buyer confirms the endpoint accepts the payload and the field mapping is correct before going live, so a broken integration is caught during setup, not after.

06

Contract auto-activates, leads flow

On completion the contract auto-activates and leads begin flowing. The completion step is single-flight (FOR UPDATE), so a double-submit cannot double-activate. Zero admin involvement from checkout to live leads.

Buyer Self-Service

What the buyer configures

Everything an account manager used to set up by hand, the buyer now sets up themselves.

States, filters, schedule

Targeting

The buyer self-defines targeting: states and geo, demographic and custom filters, and the delivery schedule and hours they want leads to arrive. Smart defaults pre-fill from the purchased package so they start from sensible settings.

Daily / weekly / monthly

Caps

The buyer sets their own volume caps — daily, weekly, or monthly — so they never receive more leads than they can work. The routing engine enforces them atomically the moment leads start flowing.

Webhook, email, Sheets, CRM

Delivery

The buyer connects delivery themselves — webhook / HTTP POST, email, a Google Sheet, or a CRM endpoint — and maps Lead Router’s lead fields to the payload schema their system expects.

Built Different

What makes the wizard different

The wizard is what collapses per-buyer onboarding work into buyer self-service — the thing that makes a large direct network operable.

Configurable, operator-composed steps

Operators compose the wizard from several supported step types, so what each buyer configures matches your verticals and packages. The wizard is not a fixed form — you decide the flow.

Built-in delivery test before go-live

The buyer fires a test post against their own integration inside the wizard. No real lead is needed. A misconfigured endpoint or field mapping is caught during setup instead of after leads start flowing.

Response and field mapping by the buyer

The buyer maps Lead Router’s lead fields to the payload schema their CRM or endpoint expects, so leads arrive in the exact shape their system reads — without an integration call or a developer on your side.

Auto-activation, single-flight on complete

On completion the contract auto-activates with no admin touch. The /complete step is single-flight (FOR UPDATE), so a double-submit cannot double-activate a contract or create duplicate setup.

Why It Matters

Why everyone defaults to wholesaling

The operational cost of onboarding direct buyers is the reason most operators sell to a handful of aggregators instead.

The old way to onboard a direct buyer is an onboarding call, a thread of spec emails, an IT ticket to wire up delivery, and a manual contract build. That is hours of work per buyer. Multiply it by every buyer you would need to replace one aggregator, and it stops being feasible — which is exactly why most operators default to wholesaling leads to a handful of aggregators and keep losing margin to the middle.

The wizard collapses all of that into buyer self-service. The buyer does the targeting, the caps, the delivery setup, and the test themselves, and the contract activates without you. That is what makes a thousand-buyer direct network operable — a thousand buyers without a thousand onboarding calls.

Frequently Asked

FAQ

The questions operators ask before turning buyer onboarding into self-service.

Do I have to onboard each buyer manually?

No. The onboarding wizard takes each buyer from checkout to live leads on their own. The buyer picks targeting, sets caps, connects delivery, and runs a delivery test inside the wizard. When they finish, the contract auto-activates. There is no onboarding call, no back-and-forth spec emails, and no manual contract build per buyer.

What delivery methods can a buyer connect?

A buyer can connect a webhook / HTTP POST endpoint, email delivery, a Google Sheet, or a CRM endpoint, and choose which delivery method to use. The wizard also includes response and field mapping, so the buyer maps Lead Router’s lead fields to the payload schema their system expects.

Can buyers test before going live?

Yes. The wizard has a built-in delivery test. The buyer fires a test post against their integration and confirms it works before any real lead is sent. No real lead is needed to validate the connection, so a misconfigured endpoint is caught during setup rather than after leads start flowing.

How do buyers log in?

Login is passwordless via magic link. The wizard state is snapshotted at the time the magic link is issued, so the buyer resumes exactly where they left off. There are no passwords to set, reset, or store.

What happens when the wizard finishes?

On completion the buyer’s contract auto-activates and leads begin flowing. The completion step is single-flight (FOR UPDATE), so a double-submit cannot double-activate a contract or create duplicate setup. No admin action is required to flip the buyer live.

Can I customize the steps?

Yes. The wizard is configurable. Operators compose the steps from several supported step types, so you can tailor what each buyer configures to your verticals and packages. Smart defaults pre-fill the wizard from the purchased package or SKU metadata, so buyers start with sensible settings instead of a blank form.
